Summary/Abstract: The Great War has meant for the Romanian population from Banat a period of difficulties and obstacles. In that context, the Romanian Orthodox Church has represented the fundamental institution of the society which has supervised the religious and cultural destinies of its faithful and which has got seriously involved in the moral and economic development of the communities. The ecclesiastical substructure has been used by the administration of the bishoprics with the purpose of stimulating the faith and the morality, the culture and the spirituality, the health education and that for the social progress. By this way, the Church has fulfilled its spiritual and material purposes and has constituted a factor of stability during cloudy times.
