Summary/Abstract: In the period 1991–1996 many people sought refuge in Republic of Srpska and after that started return process. Refugee movement at the territory of Republic of Srpska appears to be very specific, due to extremely unstable circumstances and war created specific rules and tendencies. This process marked completely new and substantially different step in the demographic development of Republic of Srpska, as well as of Bosnia and Herzegovina and of surrounding countries. Regional distribution of refugees and displaced persons caused remarkable population increase in all regions. Increased number of inhabitants had an impact on population compositions in some municipalities. One third of the inhabitants found refuge in Republic of Srpska.
