Summary/Abstract: When it comes to learning foreign languages, one can never say that he or she has reached perfection in learning it. Learning a foreign language is ever to be further improved, given the complexity of linguistic structures as well as the fact that languages evolve in time. The aim of our paper is to provide several examples of metacognitive learning strategies for teaching English as a foreign language and highlight the impact of their use upon the students’ ability to self-regulate learning, their achievement of learner autonomy, as well as their overall learning potential and learning motivation.
