Summary/Abstract: Although Norway is not a member of the European Union (EU), it is a member of the European Economic Area (EEA) and has various connections with the EU countries, including Romania. In this paper, we focus on both legal translations involving Norwegian and Romanian and the challenges a legal interpreter using Norwegian and Romanian has to cope with. The task of a legal translator or interpreter of Norwegian is even more difficult since Norway has two official variants of the written language (Bokmål and Nynorsk) and a wide variety of spoken dialects, but no clearly established spoken standard. Both legal translators and interpreters have a great responsibility since their translations or interpreting may have serious legal consequences.
