Basic Tendencies of Demographic of Vitanovac and Surroundings

Summary/Abstract: Changes of demographic development of Vitanovac and settlements in its direct and wider encirclement were analyzed in the paper. Above the short review on the historical development of the settlements, the essence of the paper was to point out the reasons and eventual consequences of present depopulation processes. Due to stagnation in the economic development, loss of some functions, even by population the largest settlements with the most suitable developmental potentials (Vitanovac, Cukojevac, Stubal) are meeting the problem of depopulation and population ageing. The example of these settlements showed the demographic capacity is one of the significant indicators of the degree of settlement development.
