Summary/Abstract: The life of Vladimir Korolenko and his works were closely connected with Ukraine. The writer, who was born in Zhytomyr and died in Poltava, is primarily known as one of the greatest Russian authors of the second half o f the nineteenth and early twentieth century, and his connections with the homeland are often ignored. V. Korolenko’s works such as The History of My Contemporary, The Mendel Brothers or Without Language illustrate his strong connections with Ukraine and a deep understanding of its specificity.
