Summary/Abstract: Alexander Kuprin was a Russian writer who came to Kiev early in his life. Those seven years (1892–1899) that he spent in the city had a huge impact on all his work. The images of Kiev appeared not only in his collection of sketches The Kiev Types (1896), but also in the later works of the writer, including the emigration period. Alexander Kuprin was a true realist, who, with great precision, tried to recapture the specifics of the reality around him. As a result, the pages of his writings reflect all the diversity of the Kiev life of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century.
