Summary/Abstract: Building the position of a given cultural institution in the environment is essentially related to the proper performance of tasks by its leader. It is a leader that is responsible for setting the vision for development, analyzing the environment, and formulating the goals and strategies. The personal development of a leader is a prerequisite for motivating and inspiring employees to perform their tasks. The task of a leader is also to build a team and create an organizational culture of the institution. The leader should improve his/her qualifications in terms of decision-making, using social media to build relationships and communicating with employees. There are no reasons why women cannot be effective leaders in managing cultural institutions. However, a woman, seeking to act as a leader, should be aware of the need to overcome many different, mental and stereotypical barriers.
