Summary/Abstract: The object of the article is the use of dėka as a noun or a preposition. With reference to the material from The Corpus of Contemporary Lithuanian language (CCLL), the article addresses dėka and the lexical composition and semantics of its constructions with the genitive case. Concrete and abstract nouns or pronouns substituting for them are used as the complement of dėka. In addition to the causal meaning, the constructions with the preposition dėka also express other pure or syncretic meanings of adverbial modifiers or object. Taking into account the usage tendencies, there are grounds to re-evaluate dėka constructions in a new light; to expand and revise the linguistic norm.
