The Potter's Craft in Kumanovo from the Beginning of the 20th Century Until the Present Day

Summary/Abstract: The article has resulted from the уеаrs of exploration in the sphere of earthenware production to be caпied out in the city Kumanovo and the Kumanovo еthniс region. In addition to the survey of the development and state of the potter's craft within the entire craft in Macedonia, the article presents detailed information about the еntire manufacture of earthenware in Kumanovo and the villages Reaca, Dolno Konjare and Tabanovce. In that context, а detailed description is given of the 'training for this craft, the potters workshop, the tools and utensils be used, аѕ well аѕ about the raw material and its preparation. Particular attention bas been paid to the process of manufacture of the earthenware (shaping, drуing, applying englobe, .. pouring", decorating by painting, baking, enameling and selling). А соmpаriѕоn bas also been made of these processes carried out in the past to the оnes that are still in uѕе today.
