Summary/Abstract: Transport systems occupy a significant place in every urban setting. Transport generates numerous negative impactsincluding air pollution, elevated temperatures, noise, decreased attractiveness, reduced safety, etc., which often extend beyondtransit corridors to affect residential areas. These negative impacts are particularly concentrated in cities, where they must bemitigated for the sake of improving residents’ quality of life. It is possible to counteract these negative impacts by using greeninfrastructure such as natural elements. For example, green space in transit corridors, green rail lines, and even green rooves onvehicles can serve a technical function and additionally have a positive impact on urban environments. This article focuses onthe possibilities for improving green infrastructure in order to minimize negative impacts which result from transport systemsin urban environments.
