THE PARIS TERRORIST ATTACK - A NEW FORM OF HYBRID WAR

Summary/Abstract: The terrorist attacks from Paris (November 13, 2015) threw the entire world into a new phase of the global war against terrorism. These consisted of a series of armed attacks, bombings and taking hostages followed by Francois Hollande, the French President’s statement, which he categorized as ,,an act of war”1. This event shocked because of its complexity and organization; the military academic world being faced now with a different kind of war. It seems that this new war, a hybrid one, involves a shift of the center of gravity from military systems, as we used to approach them, to the non-military systems. A great dilemma derives from the perception that this observation may become a contemporary war feature or the start of a war in which everyone fights everyone.
