Summary/Abstract: The mechanisms of myth creation has already been the object of the scientific researches, though the complex nature of this sociocultural phenomenon is not yet uncovered. The role of the language and translation in creation of myth can be observed in the diversity of the thesaurus produced by the society: proverbs, sayings, quotes, songs, jokes, classical literature, etc. The author believes that the thesaurus about the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 was one of the most significant layers of the cultural code of the epoch of HOMO SOVIETICUS. The article analyses the process of polishing the verbal text of the song (the original and translated versions), which have become true symbols of this historical event due to the precise selection of the key units with the power to appeal and influence. The war assumed a role of the catalist in the complex process of transforming the multinational community into the unified, Soviet nation. Myth has undergone a substantial development from interpretation of the surrounding world and culture through personification to historically determined variety of public consciousness.
