Summary/Abstract: Theoretical background conducted by me considerations are the concepts of Siegfried Zielinski and Michel Chion. Referring to these analyses present the Polish technical inventions of the second half of the nineteenth century that preceded audio‐visual media. Original design by Julian Ochorowicz, Adam Wikszemski and Kazimierz Prószyński became the pretext to think about a new type of audio‐visual culture. Media proposed by the inventors indicated also allow to talk about specific forms of media curiosities. Setting new trends, however, were forgotten and pushed to the margins of theoretical analysis and practical technical solutions. Despite this ideological level are still very interesting in the context of archaeological research on the media.
