Summary/Abstract: The present work is structured around three basic parts in which the author puts under consideration three aspects with regard to the principle pacta sunt servanda. First of all is the issue concerning the evolution through the different stages of international law of the principle in the works of some leading representatives of the legal doctrine. Second, there is analysis of the initial regulation of the principle in modern international law under the UN Charter and other basic international instruments. Thirdly, the current regulation of the principle under the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties is under particular consideration.
