The officialization of Albanian language in line with the Frame Agreement of Ohrid

Summary/Abstract: The article deals mainly with the problem of officialization of Albanian language in Macedonia after the signature of the Ohrid Agreement in 2001. It dwells somehow also on the period before its achievement concluding with some conclusions and obligations on its complete officialization in the future. The article even though dealing with a contemporary problem and in progressive process is based on important documentary and bibliographical sources and especially on the many interviews taken by the author himself. The author bears witness to knowing this problem very well, a problem on which he has dedicated also another book published by UET Press in 2014.This study presents a contribution because of its values. It refers not only to concrete documents on the level of allowance of Albanian, but also on the range of its real usage in the local as well as central administration in the state of Macedonia. The author’s conclusions on the advancement and institutionalization of Albanian as second official language in this country are a desire of the Albanians and an obligation for their political parties in this country.
