Summary/Abstract: In this study, the effect of unemployment rates on financial development in the G-20 countries was empirically explored using annual data for the period 2000-2015. The national stock market values of the countries were selected as indicators of financial development and the effect of this indicator on the unemployment rate was estimated by the structural breakdown panel cointegration analysis (Westerlund cointegration). Cointegration coefficients were estimated by the AMG estimator and it was determined that the increase in the unemployment rate caused the stock market value to decrease.
