Using of Pabon Lasso Model as Efficiency Measurement Tool in Hotel Businesses

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to evaluate the accommodation capacity utilization efficiency of the hotels operating in Konya counties by Pabon Lasso Model and Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method. Thus, it will be possible to compare the results of the DEA method which is frequently used to evaluate the performances of the hotel enterprises with the measurement results of the Pabon Lasso model which has been used to evaluate the performances of the hospitals until now, but adapted to the hotel businesses for the first time by us. According to the calculations of DEA method in the study, it is observed that the districts using the hotel accommodation capacity effectively (=1) are located in the effective region of the graph in PL method. In this context, It can be said that the PL method can be used as an alternative approach in assessing the relative performance of hotel enterprises, as in health care enterprises.
