Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt to present the cultural technology of the body where the biological and social cores of the man occur and represent themselves. Of great importance is the understanding of the techniques as a traditional and resultant action and of the knowledge about the body, including its biological functioning, which gets a new meaning in the categories of culture. On this basis the human body takes part in the nonverbal communication and can express technological, normative and semiotic properties of the community’s culture. The analysis of ritual practices of the Southern Slavs (occasional actions to prevent hailstorm and the special instructions for beginning to weave on Tuesday) shows that corporal expression comes to be a metaphor of other symbolic texts in folk culture. Thus the notions about human nature are revealed and the question of the material transformations of the thelos and the character of the solution micro-macro space are explained.
