Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the myth traditions of Finno-Ugric peoples, specially Siberian, Mansi and Khanty peoples, as well as the possibility related to their studies. If we research the mythic corps of small groups and whole narratives and poems that bear the seal of the characteristic signs of myth, instead of individual ones, we can better understand the nature of myths and reasons of their long duration. The paper is based on field research from 1991 to 2006 at the Finno-Ugric peoples of Russia and on collection of folk poetry text materials in the nineteenth century.
