Summary/Abstract: Skiing is a mass sport, grown by children, adolescents, adults up to late old age. It is also not only a recreational sport, but also an element of training in special groups. This discipline is accompanied by the risk of injuries in soft tissues: muscles, tendons, ligaments and injuries within the skeletal system. The basic factors affecting the occurrence of injuries are: a large degree of difficulty routes, exposition of slopes, uneven slopes on the slopes and changing conditions snow like icing or snow. For the safety of skiing not only is ski equipment, clothing or well-prepared routes important, but also proper conditioning preparation. Safety characteristics of skiers and injuries were done by analyzing accidents ski requiring mountain rescue intervention. 440 people were analysed from the Kotelnica Białczańska area, including 232 women (53%) and 208 men (47%). Analyses was made on the basis of the published ski accidents cards from the ski season 2008/09, routinely delivered to the TOPR station.
