A Critical Overview of the Media Literacy for Media Controllability

Summary/Abstract: In our country; having different broadcast characteristics, many channels continue their broadcast life, the necessity of controlling channels and broadcasts and the problem arise. Although the Supreme Board of Radio and Television (RTUK) is trying to conduct audits through different legislative arrangements such as the Law on the Establishment and Broadcasting Services of Radio and Television, the Law on Misdemeanors, the Turkish Radio and Television Law, In many respects, has been criticized as causing degeneration. The Media Literacy curriculum has been added to ensure that individuals who are exposed to the media in our country become media users from school age. On the one hand, there are some lessons that are made to make individuals conscious, on the other hand there are legislation designed to control the media, but today there are some things that go wrong in some places when considering the programs that are in the media and have high coverage rate. In this study, we will try to present solution proposals to the problems identified after the prime time programs, media literacy lesson and RTUK legislation are handled in our country.
