Contemporary Russian Children’s Literature: a Search for Its Hero

Summary/Abstract: This article dwells upon the issue of heroic in children’s literature of science fiction and fantasy genres. The author compares specific traits of positive characters in literary works of three representatives of contemporary Russian literature of these genres – Vladislav Krapivin, Tatiana Levanova and Tamara Kryukova. Krapivin’s characters are “absolute” or “ideal” type of characters, while characters of Levanova and Kryukova can rather be called “heroes of our time”. Both the types cause controversial perception by literary critics and readers.
