Summary/Abstract: The paper presents how it is perceived the technology RFID in present, this being emblematic for the beginning of the 21st century. Recently, RFID has also entered in the Romanian libraries, the Central University Library “Carol I” being in full process of implementation of this technology. There are presented the components of an RFID library system and how it works. There are also mentioned the social and religious implications of the development of this industry.
