Summary/Abstract: The paper has two main objectives: through the biographical method to explore the activity of Anastassia Gancheva-Zografova in the field of Bulgarian-Polish cultural relations during the 1910s – 1960s and to study the place of Bulgarian female educated elites in the cultural development of the country. The text emphasizes the role of Gancheva-Zografova as a founder and board member of the Polish-Bulgarian Association, an editorial assistant of “Polish Newsletter”, an editor-in-chief of “Polish-Bulgarian Review”, a member of the Editorial committee of “Polish Library”, a referent of Polish press at the Press Bureau to the Foreign Ministry and of Bulgarian press at the Polish Embassy. Gancheva was one of the most famous and productive translators of Polish fiction. For her translation of “Iridion” from Zygmunt Krasiński she was granted by the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The Polish government awarded her with the “Golden Cross of Merit”. She was one of the editors of the academic “Polish-Bulgarian dictionary”. The paper is based primarily on archival material from Gancheva’s archival collection and on content analysis of the “Polish-Bulgarian Review” magazine.
