Summary/Abstract: The European Union (EU) is an active player in the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons. The established political and legal basis in this area however has not been used effectively. There are institutional problems of coordination and rational distribution of EU functions. Republic of Bulgaria has its own place and weight in the process of non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.
