Summary/Abstract: Translating a certain feeling, gesture, colour into music, or even using sounds to describe an image in great detail is an art form in itself, requiring a certain compositional skill as well as creativity. To this end, technology aids the new generation of composers by providing a large pool of IT tools with applications in the music field, which allow for a further exploration into new ways of artistic expression, while also providing them with unconventional sounds that may help in better transmitting a work’s meaning and internal message. The following text proposes an analytic incursion into the musical language of Discomfort for flute and tape (2013) a piece by a disciple of the Cluj school of composition, Cora Miron. Thus, we aim to provide an overview of the compositional style of the piece as well as a run through all ITC devices and implements that were used in order to facilitate the understanding of the music’s underlying ideas and central themes. Being the result of an interdisciplinary placement project, the musical piece hereby presented for analysis represents the perfect example for observing the effects of merging modern technology with music with the goal of painting a complex acoustic image.
