Summary/Abstract: In classical music, the practice of amplifying instruments is not applied very often. However, there are certain instances in which resorting to these types of electronic devices can add certain new expressive dimensions to a performing act. The present text represents a case study on Zoom Tube, a piece by British composer Ian Clarke, aiming to discover the degree to which the work will benefit as a result of (or even require) the use of amplifying equipment.
