Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the idea of partnership between natural protected areas and business in Germany. The business partners are those who directly serve tourists such as guesthouses, hotels, or restaurants. The implemented partnership promotes greater acceptance of protect¬ed areas among the local community and better information for visitors. The idea of partner¬ship also supports the sustainability of protected areas while providing high quality services to tourists. It reconciles the tension between the development of tourism and the main con¬cern regarding the establishment of protected areas, which is the protection of biodiversity.
