Summary/Abstract: The number of the Albanians in Macedonia, especially in the purlieu of Skopje is an issue that has forwarded the Albanians from the past till today. From the results of our analyzes which are based on the official statistical data and other unofficial sources indicate that these results never matched with the real number of the people on the ground. Year 1912 had serious consequences for the political and economical life of the Albanians, especially those that remained outside the country. Perhaps this was also the hardest period for the Albanians that remained outside the borders in that period when demographic movements of Albanians occurred.Basing on the Ottoman records, after 1912 Albanians in Macedonia, especially the citizens of Skopje lost their dominant position, the position that they have had valid that time, especially in the 1953 census when the Albanians in Skopje accounted only 3% of the total population of Skopje. Decidedly that for reducing of the Albanians percentage in Skopje contributed factors such as violence, colonization, mandatory evacuations etc.
