Summary/Abstract: Ellen Key is among the ideological innovators of reform pedagogy. The study examines her views on the nature of the education in relation to her anthropological ideas. She asserts the value of education and its individual projections; elevates children‘s rights as a foundation for upbringing. It defends the role of education as a tool for reforming the society, a social process that goes through self-education and personality reform, but also through a radical change of views about the upbringing itself.
