Summary/Abstract: The article aims to be a brief, by exemplifying some battle actions in the history of the universal and Romanian military art, which led to the unnecessary loss of combatants’ lives (over death rate), caused, most of the time, by the inadequate training of commanders and disregard of lessons learned in planning and conducting the combat activities. Nowadays, this aspect is considered as essential in battle, as it contributes in maintaining the fighting capacity and morals of troops, but also in the shaping of national and international public opinion.
