Summary/Abstract: The discoveries of glass are unequally represented from the quantitative point of view in then ancient city of (L)Ibida (Moesia Inferior, then Scythia). From the 1st to the 3rd centuries A.D., came fewer glass fragments (ribbed bowls, beakers and dishes with cut and facetted decoration, mold‐blown beakers, cups with wheel – incised lines, and so on). All these fragments were not found “in situ” but scattered in the vicinity of some older buildings that had been destroyed when the 4th‐century line of fortifications was erected. Between the 4th and 7th centuries A.D., when the city of (L)Ibida enjoyed a flourishing existence, the number of glass vessels swiftly increases, as the archaeological discoveries have clearly shown. We cannot overlook the hy-pothesis of a local production, in spaces supervised by specialized artisans – for example at the G sector extramuros where few years ago were also discovered the remains of a small furnace which seems to have served at the fabrication of glass. One argument that led us to this conclusion was the discovery, all around the so‐called furnace, of a great quantity of raw material debris.
