Summary/Abstract: Certain hastily-drawn conclusions of some folklore specialists on the disappearance of the idiomatic folk expressions from the present rural environment are refuted through the appropriate research of the “dialectal” texts according to the stylistic registers of the language and the speakers’ communicative abilities, as a reflex of the elocutional knowledge and expressive competence. On the other hand, the vitality of the proverbs and sayings, as an expressive means, is rendered by the frequency of their occurrence in the (political) public discourse, the journalistic text and the funny statements of the socializing texts and messages posted on the internet by speakers from all the socio-cultural strata.
