Summary/Abstract: At the beginning of the 21st century, at the European level, there has been understood and recognized the main role of the education and training in the development and success of the knowledge society and economy. In order to reduce the economic differences among EU state members and the European citizen personal development, the European Parliament and the European Council have launched The Lifelong Learning Programme, programme to be found in the activities developed by the library associations, public and school libraries. The libraries educational programmes demonstrate the involvement and their main role in education, in general, and in lifelong learning, in special.
