Summary/Abstract: Values of ainda [still] in Portuguese and their equivalents in Spanish. In this paper we analyse the synchronic and diachronic usages of the Portuguese ainda in Portuguese dictionaries, and in Davis & Ferreira corpus. We restrict our research to the non-temporal uses: the concessive, the additive - the discourse sequencing with increasing gradual value - and the presuppositional focalizer. We present the Spanish correspondences, using the bilingual Hispano-Portuguese lexicography, and we analyse the differences. The Portuguese ainda has several equivalents in Spanish: the concessive aun, and an additive connector, similar to también or asimismo. To confirm the acceptability of the correspondences of ainda in Portuguese-Spanish lexicographic materials, we analyze different translation’s solutions in Literary texts.
