Several Reflections Concerning the Figurative Sculpture in the Romanesque Churches of the Transylvanian Saxons

Summary/Abstract: The present study contains some brief observations concerning the defining elements of the Romanesque sculpture, presented at the churches of the Transylvanian Saxon communities. In the works already published we have found that there is a provincial component of Romanesque architecture and sculpture, mainly due to the rural communities in which these were built. Beyond the rural specificity, a consistent thematic repertoire, with a well-defined moralizing character, is reflected in the sculpture.
