Summary/Abstract: Dystopian novels – such as George OrwellˈNeinteen Eighty-Four – use a different approach in the field of invented languages (artlang innovation / invention). If Nadsat is a dialectal slang, Newspeak becomes a metaphor of the described dystrophic universe. The article Dystopian Languages links Orwell’s novel to the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis of linguistic relativity.
