Summary/Abstract: The coming to power of communism, after World War 2, meant, for the Romanian Orthodox Church and its servants, a true nightmare. Almost half a century went by since they died or disappeared in communist prisons. Many of them were secretly buried in tombs unfamiliar to anyone, in common burial grounds, without any crosses present. Throughout the ordeal they were about to suffer, they were mocked and humiliated to the point of dehumanization, forced to eat with just a single spoon, subjected to other hardships, all for the purpose of denigrating the ancient Church and its servants. Due to the inhuman conditions they were subjected to, the tens of Church servants died after being liberated due to the suffering endured in prison and following the tortures they were subjected to.
