Tsar Samuel and Samuel’s state in the Bulgarian fiction and historical research

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to make a bibliographic review of the prosaic, poetic and dramatic works of Bulgarian writers from the late 19th century till now and a bibliographic review of main historical books and articles from the beginning of 20th century till now.The historical research has two main topics – the characteristics of Samuel’s state and the origin of Tsar Samuel. Bulgarian historians prove both their Bulgarian origin.There are a large number of works and the interest in Tsar Samuel continues. This shows what a importand place this king occupies in the pantheon of great Bulgarians.
