Summary/Abstract: The present study aims to trace the progressive impoverishment of the population in Anhialo and the subsequent stagnation in the economic progress of the region against the backdrop of the social, economic and political processes that took place in the Ottoman Empire in the 17th and the beginning of the 18th century. What we are pursuing in this work is to summarize, compare and complement the research of authors who previously worked on the particular topic.
