Summary/Abstract: In this essay, by way of introduction, there is a survey of the context in which Ite vos is situated, with the aim of highlighting its insignificance in the totality of the events of the period, and specifically in that pivotal year in the history of the Church. Not included is the same historiographical reconstruction of the principal characters nor a careful look at the bull and the events within the Order in the fi rst decades of the 16th Century. Next the long and complex itinerary that led up to and followed the papal intervention is retraced. Special attention is reserved to the friar Boniface da Ceva, a prominent character in the events of the Friars Minor. Then the contents of Ite vos are analyzed: peremptory conditions that were immediately evasive or disilluding, except the passage of the supreme leadership of the Order from the Conventuals to the Observants.
