Two-Chambers Crypt with Relief Tombstone from Ust-Alma Necropolis (Crimea)

Summary/Abstract: In 2008 two-chambers crypt was found on Late-Scythian Ust-Alma necropolis located in South-West Crimea. It is possible that the tomb with two chambers buried representatives of related families. One chamber had intact burials. Finds from these burials enabled comparing obtained materials with other complexes to clarify the chronology of the necropolis. The other tomb, which was looted in antiquity, contained a fragment of the unique for the Crimean Scythia relief tombstone. The closest analogue in the compositional and stylistic terms are tombstones and insertions from Chersonesos. The crypt yielded terra sigillata vessels, fragments of hand-made vessels, brooches, buckles, pendants, necklaces and many other goods. Burials from the crypt dated to the second half of the 1st — first half of the 2nd century AD.
