Diagnosis of Crime for the Region of Kraków Krowodrza on the Basis of Court Records

Summary/Abstract: The article tackles the topic of research on criminality in Krakow and, more specifically, an area in the property of the District Court for Kraków Krowodrza. The aim of the study is to determine the socio - demographic perpetrators of criminal offenses in this part of Krakow and the creation of a research point map on which the crime scenes were placed with the division of their category and the offenders’ sex. The receipt of such results was made possible through the analysis of court records in II and IX Department of Criminal District Court for Kraków Krowodrza. The study included all records available in the court archives of cases handled in 2014 in these departments. The collected data have been interpreted and presented in tables of numerical values and rates, allowing also for the preparation of maps of distribution of crime in urban space.
