Summary/Abstract: Thanks to the sociological research it can be stated that the residents of the local communities of Podkarpaciehave very little ‘personal experience’ of crime. Firstly, it is a region with the lowest crime rate. Secondly, these communities enjoy a social integration resulting from the fact of living in a given area for generations. The inhabitants of this region usually learn about crimes from movies, television news, newspapers or radio rather than from their own experience.
