Spatial Planning of Polish Maritime Areas

Summary/Abstract: The maritime space is a special common good because it has economic and social significance.The planning of the use and effective management of this space, taking into account the interests of all interested parties, is an important multi-faceted challenge for the individual Member State of the European Union. At the same time, this space has its boundaries within which different undertakings are realized by different actors who at the same time must ensure its high ecological potential for current and future generations.The article provides a concise presentation of the process of the creation of maritime spatial development plans. The Author indicates the sources of the obligation to draw up such a plan, the form of its elaboration and public administration authorities responsible for that, the principles underlying the planning process and the objectives to be achieved in the process.
