Summary/Abstract: The paper is devoted to the social and philosophical analysis of one of the important problems of modern gender studies, i.e., permutation of the gender text of culture in postmodern situations. Radical changes in the gender archetypes of classical culture are described. Sociocultural determinants causing deep metamorphoses of the masculine and feminine realities are revealed. Special attention is paid to the technological progress as the crucial factor of these transformations. An attempt is made to analyze the process of emancipation in the ontological sense, in which the destructive nature of social liberation of women manifests itself most boldly. The position is defended that emancipation in the ontological context has the imitative character and generates only the illusion of equality. When intruding upon the alien masculine reality, the appearance and inner essence of women undergo irreversible changes bearing the signs of gender masculinization. At the same time, men are also subjected to deep transformations in the space of modern culture. The ongoing process of feminization in masculinity results in the very original phenomenon called “atrophy of masculinity” by the author of this paper.
