Konteksty inkulturacyjne w „Rękodziele fabryki sukiennej...” Wacława Sierakowskiego

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the inculturatory threads included in the work of Wacław Sierakowski,a canon from Cracow, entitled Rękodzieło Fabryki Sukienney… (Cracow 1797). The contextindicated in the title is closely related to the work ethos presented in this publication.Although Sierakowski does not define outright the term “work”, his considerations containnumerous discernible references to related concepts and categories, such as human needswhich are man’s driving force and associated types of motivation. Above all, however, heshows the impact of work on quality of life, described on the basis of the functions whichlabour fulfils. Writing about benefits of the founding of a factory, Sierakowski createsa contextual catalogue of work-related values in genere. The first part of Rękodzieło isdominated by reflections on benefits flowing from work of human hands, especially thecultural and social function of labour as an activity that requires communication andcooperation between individuals and groups.
