Summary/Abstract: Many of the Romanian phytonyms are directly related to the dog. Like in other folkloric creations, in our ethnobotany this mammal, although generally believed to be a faithful friend, has a majority of evil representations, portrayed as a cruel, mean living form, which you cannot trust and, therefore, associated to unworthy, useless or harmful plants. The paper brings an inventory, an interpretation and a statistic, of Romanian names of plants, which implicates the word family „dog".
