Although contemporary trade contributes to the carbon footprint of economic activity on the environment, it also provides a number of feasible opportunities for neutralizing the effect of the carbon footprint. While acting as the intermediaries in the exchange of goods and services, the agents engaged in trade need to develop efficient systems for waste management and resource allocation which, in addition to environmental benefits, will produce commensurate economic effects.
